Hexagonal Mesh Gabions

Hexagonal Mesh Gabions

Hexagonal Mesh Gabions are wire mesh structures used in erosion control, slope stabilization, and retaining walls. Made from galvanized, PVC-coated, or Galfan wire, they are classified as gabion boxes or mattresses and widely applied in riverbank protection, dams, and infrastructure projects for their strength, flexibility, and corrosion resistance.

We are a professional manufacturer of Hexagonal Mesh Gabions, delivering engineered solutions for erosion control, slope reinforcement, and hydraulic protection. These gabions, also known as Reno mattresses or woven gabion cages, feature a robust hexagonal mesh structure that seamlessly integrates into both natural and built environments, offering lasting performance and aesthetic harmony.

Gabions are essential components in civil and environmental engineering. They effectively stabilize embankments, secure riverbanks, control landslides, and combat soil erosion. Their modular, flexible design also supports usage in landscaping and ecological restoration projects, where strength, durability, and environmental compatibility are equally important.

Material

  • Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Wire: Provides excellent corrosion protection with zinc coatings up to 350 g/m², ideal for general use.
  • Galfan Alloy-Coated Wire: Combines zinc-aluminum with rare earth elements, delivering superior corrosion resistance—three times that of traditional galvanization.
  • PVC/PE-Coated Galvanized Wire: Enhances durability with a protective polymer layer, recommended for industrial or marine environments; available in color-matched finishes.
  • Polymer-Coated Galfan® Wire: Integrates Galfan® strength with an added polymer coating for maximum resilience in aggressive climates.

Benefits

  • High impact and corrosion resistance, ensuring long-term reliability in dynamic soil and weather conditions.
  • Natural integration, allowing vegetation to grow through the mesh while stabilizing slopes and riverbanks.
  • Compact transport and installation, thanks to a foldable structure and modular configuration.

Manufactured in full accordance with EN10223-3 and YBT4190-2018, our gabions use precision-woven 2.0 mm to 4.0 mm steel wire with tensile strengths of 350–550 N/mm², and reinforced edge wires for added load-bearing capacity.

With over two decades of experience in the wire mesh industry, we ensure our gabion products meet and exceed international standards, including ASTM requirements. Our factory guarantees uniform mesh dimensions, consistent coating thickness, and superior build quality, making us a trusted global partner in infrastructure and environmental development.

Wire Mesh Gabion Baskets

Wire mesh gabion baskets are typically made from double-twisted hexagonal mesh with openings ranging from 60×80 mm to 120×150 mm. These gabions are assembled using high-tensile steel wire of 2.0 mm to 4.0 mm, ensuring structural strength and long service life in retaining walls, embankments, and erosion control projects.

Galvanized Gabion Crates

Galvanized gabion crates are formed from low-carbon steel wire with zinc coating weights up to 275 g/m², providing excellent corrosion resistance. These gabions are manufactured in standard sizes like 2×1×1 m, 3×1×1 m, and are filled with rock to build stable retaining structures and river training works.

Steel Mesh Rock Containers

Steel mesh rock containers refer to gabions constructed using robust twisted mesh wire, offering flexibility and impact resistance. Common dimensions for these gabions are 1×1×1 m to 4×1×1 m, with tensile strength typically between 350 MPa and 550 MPa, ensuring durability in challenging environments.

Hexagonal Gabion Cages

Hexagonal gabion cages use mesh with standard apertures of 80×100 mm, secured with lacing wire or clips. These gabions are ideal for slope stabilization and foundation protection, with internal diaphragms placed every 1 meter to maintain shape and prevent deformation under load pressure.

Retaining Wall Gabion Units

Retaining wall gabion units are modular wire mesh boxes filled with stones to form mass gravity walls. These gabions are designed in stackable formats with consistent sizes and often combined into multiple tiers, offering cost-effective and durable solutions for landscape and infrastructure applications.

PVC-Coated Gabion Baskets

PVC-coated gabion baskets add an extra layer of corrosion protection, especially useful in marine or wetland areas. The PVC layer is typically 0.5 mm thick, applied over 2.7 mm steel wire, resulting in gabions that combine flexibility, long-term durability, and aesthetic appeal.

Gabion Revetment Systems

Gabion revetment systems involve interconnected units placed along shorelines or slopes to prevent erosion and absorb hydraulic energy. These gabions are commonly deployed as mattresses, with thicknesses of 0.17 m to 0.30 m, and are anchored securely to prevent movement under wave or current forces.

Galfan Coated Gabions

Galfan coated gabions use steel wire coated with a zinc-aluminum alloy (typically 95% Zn, 5% Al), providing superior corrosion resistance compared to traditional galvanized finishes. These gabions are ideal for aggressive environments and offer extended service life in both marine and industrial applications.
